Tokushima beaches, located in the west of Shikoku island. A look at a sea roach (ligia exotica), a common sight on the beach. A look into a japanese love hotel, one of the more affordable places to get some privacy and sit out a cold. Nothing raunchy going on here, apart from my running nose. Beautiful cat on a street near the beach.

A short stay in Tokyo on the way south. Arrival at Shinjuku station, 4th floor bus stop. Capsule hostels come in many forms and sizes. Hostel stay in Edogawa, Tokyo. The temple visit ceremony of a japanese wedding at Meiji temple. View on rainbow bridge and the (japanese) statue of liberty. Fuji TV media tower. Hey! It me (and Unicorn Gundam).

Temple visit on new years near Suwa lake. No fireworks on the 31st, but food stands on the 1st. It’s a quiet start to a new year, praying and donating for some good luck. Overlooking a typical neighbourhood of japanese houses close to the temple. Many trails in Japan are either asphalt roads or ribbons suggesting that there is a path. Frozen waterstream on a trail to a lookout....

The first station of the working holiday: Ueda. Seen here from a few meters higher on Mt.Taro. During clear weather, a tiny Mt.Fuji is supposed to be visible in the distance. Seeing beatiful light scattering through fog while walking down Mt.Taro. Ueda historical street at night. A very well camouflaged rusty bicycle near the dormitory. Bicycle tour along and across the Chikuma river. The crossing the bridge feels like passing a hundred gates....
